Georgia Sports Medicine Institute
A Division of Athens Orthopedic Clinic
The Georgia Sports Medicine Institute was established in the fall of 2001 as a division of Athens Orthopedic Clinic. It helped us focus on our mission to provide the entire spectrum of care for persons with orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries and disorders from the Greater Athens area.
We incorporate the sports medicine philosophy of returning an individual to the highest level of function in the quickest, safest fashion. We believe that this approach should be afforded to not just athletes, but to all individuals as they seek to improve their quality of life.
The mission of GSMI is threefold:
- Provide prevention emphasis through the services of Certified Athletic Trainers to the area high schools and community.
- To provide education and research to the community as it relates to prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic and orthopedic dysfunction.
- To provide the highest level and standard of care for rehabilitation of all orthopedic dysfunction. Our staff of Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants and Certified Athletic Trainers has 50+ years of combined experience in treating all types of orthopedic problems in all levels of patients. These vary from the child, athlete, worker, homemaker and retiree.
